Re: An Elithian Alliance game
I like the life/deat idea! But how about another more on Arcane. Like mini-types. For instance, Conjuration. Another would be Mysticism, and so forth!

Re: An Elithian Alliance game
I'll add Life/Death but I wont add subtypes...
However your Character can have multiple types!
Also little added on bit! If you get an attack and add the opposite to it (Via an ability for example) it will become ENERGY type and deal 1.5 times as much damage to anything except Elementless

I prefer the system of certain elements dealing double damage to others, making them more reactive/risky!
Ofcouse there would be elementless, which reacts with nothing!
And there should be weaker moves, that only do 1/2 damage to certain types.
Elementless is like Normal type?

Maybe, I don't want to over complicate it...
Yes and no... It's more of a Good/Bad against Nothing
Re: An Elithian Alliance game
Here's in idea. How about in battles in certain areas there is a countdown of turns that when over, will kill everything in a certain area of the battlefield, which will glow red, lets say, 2 turns before it happens. Ex:Your in the desert, fighting infested, oh lets say giant worms. then the area one of your "pets" was in just explodes with a Gargantuan dune worm, swallowing everything.
How is that?

A timer based attack... Maybe...
I wonder what would happen, should if I don't know, but the Mini-LAG was fired at your position?
Re: An Elithian Alliance game
I kinda lost track of our exact gameplay/battle idea: We control a character, but what about the 'monsters'? Do we directly control them, give them commands, or do they fight on their own? And do the characters use attacks as well?
I think we should use the name 'character' only for the players from now on, and use 'monsters' for the other things (until they are given an official name), to prevent misunderstandings...
Oh, and we had one (or two, perhaps (male/female)) character of every race we use in the game, right? How exactly will we have the character selection system work? Do we choose one character at the beginning of the game, which will remain our only character, or do we use parties? And if we do, when/where can you add new characters to your party? Do you unlock more throughout the game, or can we choose several characters at the start already? And if we unlock them, can we choose which one we unlock? I know, those are lots of questions...

Directly control all party members (Player, and characters/monsters <I refrain from calling them monsters... Some are sentient could be actual alliance creatures>)
Right at the start would be easiest!
New Monsters are unlocked (either by a slot machine-like choice at level up or by quests!)
The player avatar should have some combat abilities... (With additional skills on level up!)
I have just realised it may come out similar to this, http://www.scrolls.com/
Re: An Elithian Alliance game
Right, I'd forgotten about this!
As I said before, are creatures necessary in this? We could simply use our own character's powers. And since the Rp world was originally our world, how could anyone have powers? We have no elements, as far as I know.
In any case, don't forget that a Dremeton on land needs a suit!(Speaking of which, is it possible to have two different categories of sprites, one over and one underwater, with and without a suit? How would the game detect the passage from one environment to another? And the Dremeton city, by definition, would be underwater, but I think you had guessed that.)

The creatures are your allies. They can be things like Aegi, Trinks, Dremeton
Your Character can only have so many and certain powers, your allies expand your arsenal of effects/abilities.
This is not Minecraft.
I haven't, and yes 2 forms would be good!
We will have zones. When you go from one to the other you will be transformed into your suited form (should you possess such a suit!)
Yes the underwater city will be useful as well! It will let me try some other effects/coding...
Re: An Elithian Alliance game
Okay. As I said before, how can we have any specific elements associated to our characters? In the RP, there were never talks of such things, which would be impossible in a relativistic universe.

The "elements" are just what form of attack is it.
Its so we don't have flame throwers doing the same sorta attack as a sword!

That would be quite strange. Using your flamer as a sword.

Veoline wrote:Oh, okay!
But, how can we have any magic/arcane weapons?
They are kinda meant to be anything that is psychic, Eldar Tech and Non-"Normal" Technology...
Basically anything form of technology that you don't feel is conventional, so Laser = Robot, Crystal-Powered Mind-Laser = Arcane
Re: An Elithian Alliance game
I always thought the Phychic Weaponry would have been Helmets That increase your brain power so much that it would Aloow even dull creatures to use Telekenisis, Mind reading and much more.

School got in the way...
It's still been boiling in the back of my mind.
Ludum dare is coming up soon... Could be an idea to make a prototype for part of it.
