Server Status Checker

Does anyone know of a free, safe and obviously working Minecraft server status checker? It would be very useful to have one on our forum, so that everyone can see if the server is online simply by visiting the forum.

I'll do a search and if nothing turns up I suggest posting a request on the Minecraft forums, under the mapping and modding section!

A server status widget has been added to the widgets on the right side of the page, underneath the Clocks and above the Search option.
